Description

Multi-Gauge 3 Piece Lock Pick Set for 7 Pin Tubular locks

Three Different Gauge Tubular Lock Picks

Tubular locks are considered to be of a slightly higher security level than standard pin-cylinder locks, but in truth, they are much the same type of lock just arranged differently.

Like standard pin-cylinder locks, they are comprised of a series of double pin stacks with a spring. But rather than being in a row as in a standard pin-cylinder, a tubular lock has its pins in a circle, hence the name 'Tubular Lock'.

Because of this, you can in fact pick tubular locks using the same technique as pin-cylinders, using the Single Pin Picking method. However, due to the way the pins are housed, applying tension and identifying the binding pin poses more problems.

That's why this tubular lock pick set is an absolute dream for anyone who encounters tubular locks and needs to open them quickly and with ease. These tools are so well designed that they work almost as fast - and sometimes faster - than the actual key!

Essentially these picks are an impressioning tool, that uses a series of needles in the shaft that engage with each of the pins in the lock. Turning the tool gently left and right after the pick has been inserted and the center post lined up causes the needles to move slightly, making an impression of the pins as you gently push and turn it, until the lock comes open. You can see how easy this is from the VIDEO below.

In nearly two decades of lock picking I've never seen one of these tubular lock picks fail unless the lock is damaged. And they're so easy to use, you'll need about 2 minutes to work it all out.

This set comes in three sizes, which are the most common tubular lock sizes in use today.

  • 7.0mm
  • 7.5mm
  • 7.8mm

This set has an built in 'reset mechanism' meaning you can prepare the tool to use in an instant by simply pushing down the shaft and pressing the release key - then they're ready to go.

However, you can also use this feature to 'lock in' the impression, meaning that pick will then open the lock you previously picked as if it's a temporary key, ideal if you need to continue using the lock until you've either found the key or replaced the lock.
