Metal Practice Locks - Solid, dependable, professional

Metal Practice Locks - Repinnable Locks for Realistic Training

Our metal practice locks are designed for pickers who want to train on the real thing. Where clear acrylic locks let you see the mechanism, metal locks teach you to feel it - developing the tactile sensitivity and feedback recognition you'll need to pick locks in the real world.

Why Choose Metal Practice Locks?

Clear practice locks are an excellent starting point, but they only take you so far. The moment you attempt a real lock, you'll notice the difference: tighter tolerances, subtle feedback, no visual cues to rely on. Metal practice locks bridge that gap, giving you realistic training without the pressure of working on locks you actually need to open.

Our metal practice locks are built to the same standards as real-world locks. The weight feels right in your hand, the pins give crisp feedback, and the overall quality is exceptional. Once you've trained on these, you'll approach real locks with confidence.

Who Are Practice Locks For?

We recommend metal practice locks for intermediate to advanced pickers looking to progress beyond basic trainers. They're particularly valuable if you've been practising on clear locks and want to develop your skills further.

That said, beginners who prefer a challenge can absolutely start here. The learning curve is steeper, but the skills you develop will be stronger for it. If you're the type who'd rather struggle with the real thing than breeze through something easy, metal practice locks are for you.

Repinnable Locks - Customise Your Training

Many of our metal practice locks are fully repinnable. This means you can take them apart and reconfigure the pins however you like - making them easier for warming up or harder for a genuine challenge.

Repinning is one of the most valuable skills a picker can learn. By physically changing the pin configuration, you gain a deep understanding of how different setups affect difficulty. Standard driver pins feel different to spools, serrated pins behave differently again. Repinning lets you experience all of it, in whatever order you choose.

Everything You Need for Repinning

We don't just sell repinnable locks - we stock everything you need to make the most of them:

- Replacement lock pins (standard, spool, serrated and more)

- Springs in various tensions

- Precision pinning tweezers

- Follower tools for easy reassembly

- Pinning mats and trays

With the right kit, you can reconfigure your practice locks endlessly. Master one setup, swap it out, and start again. It's the closest thing to a full locksmith training experience you can get at home.

Exceptional Quality

We're particular about the locks we stock, and our metal practice locks represent the best available. The weight and solidity are immediately apparent when you pick one up - these are serious tools, not flimsy trainers.

The tolerances are realistic without being punishing, the feedback is clean and precise, and the overall build quality means these locks will last through countless picking sessions. If you've only ever handled clear acrylic locks, you'll be genuinely impressed by the difference.

The Natural Next Step

If you've mastered clear practice locks and want to keep progressing, metal practice locks are the obvious next step. Add one or two to your kit and discover what realistic lock picking really feels like.
