Disc-detainer pick
A dedicated pick for suitable disc-detainer padlocks
Disc-detainer locks use rotating discs rather than the pin stacks found in standard cylinders. This padlock pick gives learners and locksport pickers a dedicated route for suitable disc-detainer padlocks, including legacy examples such as Blackspur and Monterey-style copies.

Why buy this
Buy this when ordinary picks are the wrong tool family
Disc-detainer mechanisms need a tool that can tension and manipulate discs in the right way. A dedicated padlock pick makes that technique far easier to understand than trying to adapt pin-cylinder tools.
Correct mechanism route
Built around disc-detainer padlock work rather than pin lifting.
Padlock focus
Useful for suitable detainer padlock practice.
Technique bridge
Helps learners move beyond standard pin-cylinder tools.
Use route
Learn disc movement before chasing an open
Start by studying how the key rotates the discs in a suitable practice lock. Then use the pick slowly, feeling for disc movement and reset rather than forcing the tool.
- Use on suitable disc-detainer padlocks.
- Start on a practice padlock to learn the disc feel.
- Study the mechanism before adding speed.
Helpful next step: clear disc-detainer practice padlock.
